Environmental Achievements
Eastern Gas Transmission and Storage
- LEED Certification in West Virginia: In 2016, the White Oaks office in Bridgeport, West Virginia became the state's first privately-owned LEED Gold Certified building. The Leadership in Energy and Environmental Design (LEED) is an internationally recognized green building certification system. LEED measures energy conservation, water efficiency, carbon emissions reductions, improved indoor air quality, and resource stewardship. Designed by The Thrasher Group and constructed by March-Westin Company, this 4-story 106,000 square foot office was built to operate sustainably.
- LEED Certification in Pennsylvania: EGTS has two LEED Certified office buildings in Pennsylvania: One LEED Gold Certified in Sabinsville and one LEED Silver Certified in Delmont.
Cove Point LNG
- LEED Certification: Cove Point LNG was awarded LEED Certification in 2018, making it the first LEED building in Calvert County, Maryland. The facility consumes 32% less energy and 40% less water in restrooms than a similar facility of its size. In addition, the plant takes up only 15% of its 1,000-acre footprint, with the rest of the land in permanent conservation.
- National Environmental Excellence Award: In 2008, a large nor’easter storm created a breach of the Cove Point Marsh, a 190-acre Maryland Heritage Area, located on the western shore of the Chesapeake Bay. The breach caused significant damage and threatened the freshwater marsh ecosystem with the intrusion of the bay's brackish water. The Marsh is documented to be home to over 40 rare, threatened and endangered plant species that would have been destroyed by the event. A restoration effort was conducted using over 33,000 tons of rock and 10,000 tons of sand, a 2,600-ft revetment was created to restore the marsh and re-stabilize its ecosystem. As part of the project, Cove Point operations have been conducting routine surveillance and reporting progress on the ecosystem's recovery. In recognition of its environmental stewardship, Cove Point LNG was awarded the National Environmental Excellence Award by the National Association of Environmental Professionals and the “Hero of the Chesapeake Bay” by the Maryland Legislative Sportsmen's Foundation.
Customer Achievements
- Mastio & Company Customer Service Achievement: Mastio & Company, which specializes in company experience surveys, leads an annual Natural Gas Pipeline Customer Value study to gather responses from LDCs, independent power producers, and marketers about interstate, intrastate and Canadian pipelines. These results are used in the pipeline industry as a benchmark for measuring customer satisfaction and are separated into the categories of mega pipeline (at least 3,500 miles of transportation pipe and deliveries exceeding 1 TCF), major pipeline (at least 3,500 miles of transportation pipe and serving at least 3 states), regional pipeline (fewer than 3,500 miles and/or serving fewer than 3 states) and major organizational groups (pipelines owned and operated by a parent company).

Interstate Natural Gas Association of America (INGAA)'s Pipeline Commitments We are a member of the Interstate Natural Gas Association of America (INGAA), whose members have committed to remain responsible, safe and productive members of the communities in which they work. Southern Gas Association (SGA) We are member of this US natural gas trade association that supports all sectors of the industry. It has 200+ member organizations and 300+ industry partners in North America. This organization provides learning opportunities and an avenue to exchange ideas and share solutions.
Association of Materials Protection and Performance (AMPP) AMPP (previously NACE) represents the largest global community of corrosion and protective coatings professionals. Our members are dedicated to advancing technical and practical expertise in corrosion prevention and control. AMPP provides members with the knowledge and resources to ensure high performance materials are used to build and maintain sustainable infrastructure.
Pipeline Research Council International (PRCI) PRCI is a community of the world’s leading pipeline companies, and the vendors, service providers, equipment manufacturers, and other organizations supporting the industry. Since 1952, PRCI has been recognized around the world as a unique forum within the energy pipeline industry delivering great value to its members and the industry — both quantitative and qualitative — through the development and deployment of research solutions to improve pipeline safety and performance. PRCI’s mission is to collaboratively deliver relevant and innovative applied research to continually improve the global energy pipeline systems.
Energy, Equipment & Infrastructure Alliance (EEIA) EEIA is the association for suppliers of construction, equipment, materials and services for energy production and infrastructure. They are the only organization representing the full spectrum of the supply chain - tens of thousands of companies and millions of workers in all 50 states - supporting production facilities, midstream infrastructure including transmission pipelines, and downstream infrastructure for power generation, storage, processing and export.
