Eastern Gas Transmission and Storage
BHE GT&S, through its local operating company Eastern Gas Transmission and Storage (EGTS), provides natural gas transportation and storage services with one of the largest underground natural gas storage systems in the United States. With a main office in Bridgeport, West Virginia, this multi-state pipeline system links to other major pipelines and to markets in the Midwest, Mid-Atlantic and Northeast regions.

EGTS safely operates nearly 4,000 miles of pipeline and more than 985,000 horsepower of compression in six states: Maryland, New York, Ohio, Pennsylvania, Virginia, and West Virginia. We reliably supply natural gas for large customers, such as major utilities and power plants, and to local distribution companies to heat homes and run small businesses.
Through enhancements to our existing facilities, we are giving large customers more options to move gas into their markets. We are also implementing innovative ways to serve customers with products and services that are safe, reliable and efficient.
History
The companies that would become Eastern Gas Transmission and Storage are born of an important by-product of John D. Rockefeller's Standard Oil Company.
Hope Natural Gas Company is incorporated. The founders were hopeful that natural gas would prove to be the wave of the future – they named their company accordingly.
Standard Oil acquires Peoples Natural Gas and connects its lines to Hope's.
WV leads the nation in natural gas production.
Standard Oil dissolves and becomes Standard Oil Company (New Jersey). 4 of 5 companies that would eventually become Consolidated Natural Gas were in place at this time: The Peoples Natural Gas Company, The River Gas Company, Hope Natural Gas Company and The East Ohio Gas Company.
Hope builds the first commercially available process to extract natural gasoline from natural gas – an oil absorption plant.
CNG is spun off as a privately held, independent company from Standard Oil.
Consolidated Gas Supply Corporation's storage system has 27 fields and contains more than 800 billion cubic feet of gas, making it the largest gas storage system in the world at the time.
Consolidated Gas Transmission Corporation changes name to CNG Transmission Corp and registers the CNG trademark.
In January, Dominion Resources Inc. merges with Consolidated Natural Gas Co.
On November 1, 2020, Berkshire Hathaway Energy acquires a number of Dominion Energy gas transmission, storage, and LNG assets, including the former CNG assets. The company is now called BHE GT&S, and the former CNG operations are known as Eastern Gas Transmission and Storage.

Gathering Producer Services
We strive to provide facilities and services that make us the preferred local outlet for production gas. By continually expanding and upgrading our existing facilities, both pipelines and compression, we enable producers to move more gas into our system. We work aggressively with producers to align our mutual objective of maximum production throughput, while meeting all safety and compliance requirements. Producers annually deliver more than 175 Bcf of gas into EGTS systems.

Storage
EGTS operates 17 underground storage fields with 756 Bcf of total operated design storage capacity and 420 bcf of working gas capacity. The company has numerous links to other major pipelines and can access markets in the Midwest, Mid-Atlantic and Northeast regions of the United States.
